Newcastle campus life for the 2020/2021 academic year
Following months of uncertainty for students across the country, the future of university life is beginning to come into sight. Students have been waiting to learn what life impacted by Covid-19 will look like as they continue their studies.
Newcastle students have been notified by universities that they will be returning back to campus, so what are the latest updates for students and how are universities keeping their students safe?
Back to campus
Newcastle universities have confirmed that students will be returning to a restricted operation of on-campus study and are expected to return to campus by phased return in September and October, ready for the 2020/2021 academic year.
Newcastle University have shared the measures they will be taking to keep students safe on campus. Upon arrival on campus, Undergraduate and masters students will be provided with a Covid-safety pack, including a thermometer, face covering, and refillable hand sanitiser. These packs are designed to ensure every student has what they need to stay safe on campus.
Across universities, cleaning measures are being adapted to ensure Covid-safe learning spaces, with both Newcastle and Northumbria University sharing their commitment to increased cleaning regimes and providing an excess of hand sanitiser stations across campus. Additionally, expect one-way systems to be implemented across university buildings, and physical distancing measures to be the norm.
It’s extremely likely that face coverings will be a crucial part of getting university life up and running once again, with Newcastle University planning that face masks will be mandatory in all teaching spaces.
For students across the world, life is going to look significantly different, but with the effort from North East universities to keep students safe and secure, students will be able to return back to a variation of university life before the end of the year.
